Hello everyone,
I guess i am coming here after so long without any post. So today I am going to tell my personal experience regarding the National Training in my country or well known as "Program Latihan Khidmat Negara". Usually only the chosen ones are able to go there. Divided into three different session 1 ,2 and 3. The trainees there are chosen from the 17 year old teens which are selected from schools around Malaysia.
I went to the camp for 3 months for the second session in the year 2011 at Kem Warisan Masjid Tanah Melaka. To be exact I was eager to be there as I am very interested in marching. Yet my parents did not really allow me as I have never been to any camp. They was eager to bring me to the government doctors to take a exception letter but I managed to convince my parents. Traveling to the place in the PLKN bus provided make me worried as we were passing through the the red mud road, your left and right was a lot of palm tree and you could see cow's and even monkeys.
After registering the gave me a small paper written "ALPHA" and i walked slowly to "BP3" the room I was first situated. It was a paved room about 20-25 beds and everyone have their own closet. Thats where I got to know some of them especially Lily, Tong and many more but this two people are closest to me. We were asked to line up on the first day. I felt very weird. Standing in the front wasn't easy. Thats when I got to know ALPHA was my group or known as company. There were three other group Bravo, Charlie and Delta. We were instructed regarding the rules of the camp. And all the phones have to be given to the instructor to be kept safely but thank God I didn't have one at that moment.
During the first month, all we all had was classes .. There were different modules physical, character building, community serving and nation. The first one was the character building. We felt almost being like in kindergarten classes. At the end of the class the teacher will be asking us to tell about what we felt and our own experience. Of course many of us were still shy and trying to adapt the new environment. So most of us were in our own world. But the coming days changed our appearance. Cikgu Miera and Cikgu Zai was a good motivator and sometimes cikgu Azrul will join together with us. I met a very special person there too where I will be telling in another post.
At some moment the ALPHA company were asked to change room to BP 1(a) and BP 1 (b). Myself, Lily, Tong, Carol, Cindian and Farah. We wasnt so close with Carol as she was sick and often situated in Medical Room whereas Cindian left us after a few week because of some illness. And we continued our daily routine. The second month we had some games like, ponco, tong bocor, kayak, swimming, marching practice and running practice. Everyday at 5pm is our exercising time. we re free to do anything. As for Hindu every Wednesday and Thursday we have Hinduism class with our Indian TKL and another Indian master from temple. We enjoyed the most is on Friday where we could Visit the temple which s located about 30 minutes from our place. We would leave by 6.00pm and only be back at 10pm.
Another interesting thing was toilet its only covered by thin sheet of plastic. Oh My God we are shy but we managed it out. Sundays are family visiting day. I often have my uncles aunties visiting on the particular day with home-made food and some snacks provided with a amount of money. Once we were punished for not cleaning our rooms were our bed are all untidy. Marching in the night at 11pm was almost insane. Foods there are always awesome don't worry they are professional cooks. We also had our camping at the nearby palm jungle. Building our own camp was challenging we got wet in the night because of rain. Special food. I ended without sleeping the whole night. The next activity was our marching where we were given out certificates and our company were officially dispersed. We had our cultural night. We were very emotional as cant get to see that often, some even cried but it was normal for me. To make me go tear is almost hard as I love to live with pressure.
That was the most interesting moment in PLKN that I would never forget. So guys if you got and offer please don't miss the chance. Be happy and have fun there. You would enjoy the moments there with gaining a lot of useful experience. Its build you up, your character and even love towards the family, citizen and national. If i were given chance I would want to be there once again.

Botanical Pharmacy
Botanical: Ximenia spp.
Family: Olacaceae
Common: Wild plum, Sour plum, Wild Olive, Monkey Plum
Family: Olacaceae
Common: Wild plum, Sour plum, Wild Olive, Monkey Plum
Description
The name, Ximenia, commemorates
a Spanish monk, Francisco Ximenez, who wrote about the plants in the 17th
Century. The species are spiny, deciduous shrubs or small trees.
The bark is dark brown to black, with textured scales. The dark green leaves
are simple, alternate and smooth. The fragrant flowers are found in
inflorescent clusters and bear ovoid, drupe fruits.
Fruit
The fruits (drupes) are similar in
shape and size to a plum. They vary in colour from dark reddish-brown to
bright orange-scarlet when ripe. The edible pulp clings to a brittle shelled
stone, within which is contained an oil rich, soft cream coloured seed.
Distribution
Ximenia species are widespread across
Southern Africa, abundant in all PhytoTrade Africa’s member countries,
especially Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The shrubs
commonly grow in low altitude areas, in woodland and across grassy savannah
landscape.
Traditional
uses:
The maternal African lineage has
maintained the philosophy through the ages of maintaining health by using the
abundant natural resources, steeped in nutritional and medicinal
properties. Ximenia forms a key part of this philosophy; the fruit
pulp, seed oil and bark each have specific properties that are used
domestically. The Ximenia fruits are nutritionally rich in Vitamin C and
form an important component of the diet: eaten raw, made into jams, jellies and
a refreshing syrup is drunk with water or added to porridge. Ximenia
bark is used to treat toothache, mouth infections and stomach aches. The seed
oil, extracted in various ways, is edible and used in cooking.
However, it’s principal use is as an emollient. Ximenia oil is
used by bushmen on their bows and bow strings, whilst the women and girls use
it to anoint their bodies and hair. It is a very effective hair
oil, rich conditioner and skin softener. Chapped skin is often soothed by
massaging Ximenia oil into the affected area.

Malaysian Rhymes
This is the Second post regarding the Malaysian Rhymes. Of course many wants their sweet memories in childhood to be remembered. I am really honored to do so today.
Rasa Sayang
rasa sayang eh
rasa sayang sayang eh
eh lihat nona jauh
rasa sayang sayang eh
buah cempedak di luar pagar
ambil galah tolong jolokkan
saya budak baru belajar
kalau salah tolong tunjukkan
pulau pandan jauh ke tengah
gunung daik bercabang tiga
hancur badan di kandung tanah
budi yang baik di kenang juga
dua tiga kucing berlari
mana sama si kucing belang
dua tiga boleh ku cari
mana sama abang seorang
pisang emas dibawa berlayar
masak sebiji di atas peti
hutang emas boleh di bayar
hutang budi di bawa mati
Sayang means love it english. so rasa sayang means my love feeling. the second paragraph till the last shows is more to known as "pantun". i cant name it as poem as its different. But usually the last letters of line 1/ 3 and 2/4 are similar. This gives the reader a nice tone. Listen to the song I know many would like it....

Malaysian Rhymes
In this modernized world we often forget our pure Malaysian Culture. Some of it came from our own childhood. I am not sure if all of us studied in a Malay Pre-School yet i believe maybe you have heard this from some television advertisements.
Come lets see some famous rhymes that I could still remember!!!
Chan Mali Chan
Di mana dia anak kambing saya?
Anak kambing saya yang makan daun talas
Di mana dia buah hati saya?
Buah hati saya bagai telur dikupas
Chan mali chan, chan mali chan,
Chan mali chan, ketipung payung (repeat 2x)
Di mana dia anak kambing tuan?
Anak kambing tuan di atas jambatan
Yang mana dia bunga pujaan?
Si bunga tanjung dihujung dahan
Chan mali chan, chan mali chan
Chan mali chan ketipung payung (repeat 2x)
Kalau nak tahu anak kambing saya
Anak kambing saya di dalam bilik
Kalau nak tahu intan payung saya
Intan payung saya yang kecil lah molek
Di mana dia anak kambing tuan?
Anak kambing tuan yang bulunya kuning
Yang mana dia buah hati tuan?
Buah hati tuan yang putih lah kuning.
Most kids loved this song as it have influence Malaysian culture and names are often be described as chinese names. As Malaysian there are many ethnics like Malay, Indians, Chinese and many other sub-ethnics there are many different culture that have been brought up together with the nations pride.
